Asda sets up new Strabane store
Following the successful launch of Asda's store in Strabane, Londonderry, the company has announced it is to invest an additional £4.7 million in order to expand the premises.
The Londonderry Sentinel reported that up to 30 jobs could be created in the area as a result of these proposed plans, with the store set to be expanded to include an additional 15,000 sq ft of retail space.
"Despite the impact of the economic recession, we've proved that Asda delivers the range, value and service that the public wants and this is only set to continue in our bigger, brighter supermarket," Eugene Teague, manager of Asda Strabane, told the local paper.
Customer feedback showed that the area which was in most need of expansion was the non-food items; therefore, the newly expanded upper level will be dedicated to these goods.
Meanwhile, the Stoke Park Evening News recently reported that Asda is currently recruiting for employees at its new Stoke Park store, with up to 200 positions currently available.
