British Gas opens Leicester Energy Academy

Those hoping to enter green construction jobs will be boosted by the official opening of British Gas's new Energy Academy in Leicester. The training facility is one of five operated by the Centrica-owned company in the UK and was opened by prime minister Gordon Brown yesterday (July 1st). Mr Brown congratulated the academy's first trainee engineer intake, saying they had done "extremely well" to earn place on the programme. "By learning to install the technologies of the future, you will be playing your part in helping the UK tackle climate change," he commented. The opening of the academy comes after British Gas announced that it planned to create 2,600 new green energy jobs by 2012...
