Brits 'looking for new roles'

27/04/2010

There has been an increase in the number of people who claim they are looking to switch jobs in recent months.

According to totaljobs.com, many UK workers are now contemplating a career change amid renewed confidence in the country's labour market.

Lisette Howlett, spokesperson for HireScores.com, said that the recession has made many people question their current career goals and many are now taking the opportunity of the recovery to look elsewhere.

She commented: "There are also a proportion of new job seekers who are considering leaving their current roles to look for alternatives because they are feeling more confident about the economic climate."

Figures from the Office for National Statistics have shown that the employment rate for the three months to February 2010 has fallen by 0.3 points to 72.1 per cent.

Overall, the number of people in employment fell by 89,000 in the quarter to reach 28.82 million.
