Business leaders 'turn to education'
Leading executives from the business world are turning to teaching to find their next career challenge, new figures show.
Research from the National College for School Leadership (NCSL) indicates that some 47 per cent of business managers considering a career in the public sector would like to work in education.
Deputy chief executive of the NCSL Toby Salt says that many business leaders have the skills needed to perform well in the classroom, notably good communication, team working and problem solving skills.
But while individuals may be considering a change of career sector, they should remember that much will be different from working in the private sector.
The NCSL study found that nearly two-thirds of those wanting to enter the education sector to take on a role as a school leader liked the idea that they would be able to make a difference.
Others wished to enter the arena so they could make a difference to the local community.
