Contractors shortlisted for Mersey bridge construction work

Three consortia will compete to undertake the delivery of a new Merseyside bridge, with new civil engineering jobs to be created at the successful candidate. Halton Borough Council has shortlisted the Merseylink group, the MGL group and a consortium including Balfour Beatty for the Mersey Gateway project, from an initial list of six consortia. Now these three candidates will bid to design, build, finance and operate a new bridge over the Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes, as well as to carry out associated work in these two towns, with the value of construction work estimated at £600 million.
