Fight against recruitment crime supported by new group

19/11/2008

A new organisation has been launched which may help online recruitment agencies in the fight against crime that targets recruiters and jobseekers.

The Recruitment Industry Counter-Fraud Forum, known as SAFER (Safe Advice for Employment and Recruitment) consists of executives from a range of agencies and job boards.

It is hoped that fraud such as obtaining a false identity to collect benefits while working, offering fake services to jobseekers or accessing agencies' lists of clients for theft can be tackled by the non-profit organisation.

Stephen Brewis, SAFER chair of Impellam, spoke at New Scotland Yard and said: "By being forewarned – aware – we are all forearmed and able to take action."

Information about crime in the industry will be collected and used to inform recruiters and jobseekers of any issues and solutions being devised.

Similarly, last week Onrec.com reported that by using online recruitment agencies people may be less at risk of having their CV stolen and used to commit identity fraud.
