Graduate job hunters 'benefit from online recruitment'

17/06/2008

It is easier than ever before for graduates to access the full range of opportunities open to them after university thanks to the internet, the publishing director at Graduate Prospects has suggested.

Jayne Rowley stated that the while the number of employment options open to university leavers has not necessarily increased, accessibility has been improved by the proliferation of online job boards and applications.

Sophisticated search technology allows people to tailor their job requirements to a personal specification, she said.

Ms Rowley also noted that job seekers benefit from being able to research potential employers before they apply, adding: "This is great news for recruiters too as it means they are reaching a wide and diverse pool of candidates to enrich their workforce."

Although the internet may have made it easier to conduct a graduate job hunt university leavers may still face a difficult search, as the Association of Graduate Recruiters told the Guardian this weekend that many firms are cutting back on their trainee recruitment this year.
