Jobseekers 'can be naive'

15/03/2010

An inability for jobseekers to sell their skills to prospective employers is putting a strain on recruitment in the UK, it has been claimed.

A spokesperson for Jobsite said many people are fine when listing their qualifications and employment history, but fall down when it comes to highlighting their specific skills and how what they have learnt in each role has helped develop them as a valuable employee in their chosen field.

The representative commented: "It can be easy to get disheartened and we understand that job hunting can feel lonely and frustrating but we'd like to reassure people that there are jobs out there."

She added people should remember there is a lot of free advice out there for those looking to sharpen up their CV writing skills.

According to a recent survey by Manpower, while eight per cent of employers forecast an increase in their headcount during the second quarter of 2010, seven per cent anticipate a decrease and 84 per cent predict no change.
