Managers flee the UK for European roles
According to new research, more people in management roles moved out of the UK than came in over the last year.
Figures calculated by recruitment website Experteer show that from April 2007 to 2008, the UK saw an eight per cent outflow of those in executive jobs.
Germany saw a slightly higher 12 per cent executive exodus, along with France at 14 per cent.
Wages for managing directors in Switzerland and Germany remain among Europe's highest, while the UK and Italy pay middle managers the most, the research suggested.
Managing director for Experteer in the UK Torsten Muth said that executives feeling the effects of the credit crunch are open to relocation.
He commented: "Talent is now far more mobile and we see increasing numbers of footloose, highly talented individuals willing to relocate across Europe.
Recruitment website Monster revealed a 22 per cent reduction in job advertisements in the IT sector from February to July of this year.
