'More jobseekers' turn to the web
An increasing number of people looking for job opportunities are using the internet to do so, according to recent figures.
A survey by Kelly Services found that searching online is the favoured way for many people to look for new positions.
Some 83 per cent of respondents said that they were pleased with the outcome of their online job search, compared with 51 per cent who used written letters and applications to apply for roles.
James Bowmer of Kelly Services said that both candidates and bosses have "embraced the internet".
"People are now very confident about applying for jobs online, while employers are becoming much more skilled at dealing with the online recruitment phenomenon," he added.
Meanwhile, a separate study by Enhance Media found that the use of the internet to look for jobs has risen by 50 per cent since 2006 - with most people using an average of four different sites in their search.
