Nameless CVs proposed by MP
It has been suggested by one MP that jobseekers should not have to put their name on their CV or application form.
In the opinion of Lynne Featherstone, Liberal Democrat MP for Hornsey and Wood Green and spokesperson for equality, this will help to avoid subliminal discrimination prior to the interview stage.
Instead of listing their name, gender, race or age, she believes that candidates need only supply their national insurance number.
This way they can let their personality shine through to secure their position at a face-to-face meeting.
Writing about the proposals on her blog, Ms Featherstone said: "This is not just about discrimination that is overt - but in a pile of applications it's about also subliminal and unconscious discrimination."
In related news, everywoman.co.uk has claimed that women need to more encouragement to apply for managerial roles to reduce the gender pay gap at the top level.
