Online recruitment 'could reach public sector candidates'
Public sector organisations could reach a broader range of candidates by advertising their jobs online, research says.
The findings of researchers at Cranfield School of Management, reported by Online Recruitment website, revealed job websites should be carefully geared towards maximising their catchment.
Organisations could benefit by attracting more diverse and higher quality job candidates, said lead researcher Dr Emma Parry.
"Our research shows that it's possible for public sector organisations to find success with e-recruitment, providing that they approach it in the right way in terms of candidate engagement," she said.
It could also be more beneficial to the candidates themselves as there was the potential to make the application process fairer and more consistent with easy-to-use online application forms.
However the job site needed to use the right methods to attract candidates and drive traffic towards its pages, the report said.
