Online recruitment is the 'way forward for employers'

26/11/2008

There has been an increase in the number of employers using online recruitment as it helps them to manage the amount of applications they receive, it has been claimed.

Speaking to Personnel Today, Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the Association of Graduate Recruiters, said that "technology has had a huge impact in terms of security and flexibility" as it allows employers to sift through applications.

Furthermore, he now believes that at least two-thirds of employers have an 'online only' approach to recruitment.

"There's a greater emphasis on employers to be more transparent about their recruitment processes and what they're looking for and an online approach enables them to do this," Mr Gilleard said.

The UK is considered to be one of the most advanced countries when it comes to the use of online recruitment.

Earlier this week, River Island announced that it is to begin using the internet to help it find sales staff for its 200 stores across the country, according to Onrec.com.
