Outsourcing 'to regain foothold in 2010'

07/01/2010

More businesses will look to outsourcing to fill their employment needs over the coming year, it has been claimed.

Patrick O'Brien, senior analyst at Ovum, said greater competition will mean firms are looking to maintain a grip on costs over the coming months and outsourcing of staff and technologies could be one way to achieve this.

"It's something that vendors have been pressured into to be more competitive and look at things beyond simple cost cutting," he noted.

Mr O'Brien added businesses will often use outsourcing principles to come up with new solutions to the problems they face.

According to the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals, companies will return to using outsourcing to recapture innovation and provide flexibility in 2010 versus simply saving money, but global economic uncertainty will continue to impact the industry.

Businesses are predicted to increasingly make use of advanced management practices, tools and technologies - such as ORM (Object-Relational Mapping) and cloud computing.
