Over 100 jobs could be created with aerosol factory
A company that manufactures aerosols has planned to take over a factory no longer in use in Irvine, north Ayrshire, creating over 100 jobs.
Barony Universal Products, which supplies goods to brands such as FCUK, Ted Baker and Revlon, will invest £14 million in the move.
The funds were raised through a grant from Scottish Enterprise's Regional Selective Assistance, as well as shareholder contributions.
However, this will not be the first time Barony has ventured into Ayrshire, as it already has a site established in nearby Auchlenleck.
By taking on the 18-acre factory, the firm will be able to more than double its 106-strong workforce.
STV quoted Lilian Smith, account manager at Scottish Enterprise, as commenting: "Barony Universal is exactly the kind of forward thinking company we are pleased to be working with."
She explained it has shown a commitment to safeguarding jobs as well as providing new roles.
