Poll: Most jobseekers search for employment online

08/04/2008

Most jobseekers search for a new position using the internet, new research has revealed.

According to findings from Taleo, 43 per cent of job-hunters are internet savvy and will use online resources to search and apply for jobs.

This group of jobseekers will also sign up to a jobs board or business-related social networking site.

Neil Hudspith, senior vice president for Taleo, stated that companies must address this recruitment trend.

"Online search and application techniques are now the most prevalent methods with both active and passive candidates, which suggests that candidates are proactively taking charge of their search for employment," he said.

Business networking sites will provide companies with a pool of talent in the future, he added.

A poll by Personnel Today and legal firm Charles Russell recently revealed that most bosses do not use social networking sites to search for job applicants.
