Professional networks 'attracting more jobseekers'

26/11/2008

More people may be turning to online recruitment methods to help them look for jobs because they are concerned about the risk of redundancy, it has been claimed.

Reuters has reported that the use of professional networks has increased around the world because of the global economic crisis and an increase in the number of job seekers looking for employment.

Janel Landon, who runs a small PR consultancy in Chicago, said: "Professional networking is a must do during unstable economic times."

It has been estimated that the online professional networking market is worth around $170 million (£110 million) which could be as a result of more people harnessing the power of the internet for recruitment.

It has been previously claimed by recruiter Kelly that CV databases are an excellent way for employers to gain access to a vast number of jobseekers, the Irish Sunday Business Post reported.
