Prospects 'improving for graduates'
Graduate vacancies are set to significantly increase throughout 2010, a new report has predicted.
The study by High Fliers Research revealed 75 per cent of employers plan to increase graduate recruitment over the coming year, with the number of available positions forecast to increase by 12 per cent over in 2010.
In addition, the firm noted the top 100 companies in the UK have increased their recruitment targets.
However, Martin Birchall, managing director of High Fliers Research, said: "Students leaving university this summer will be disappointed to find that many of these new positions have already been filled by graduates from the class of 2009, who had job offers postponed last year."
Prue Watson, spokesperson for the Federation of Small Businesses, recently said small firms in particular could benefit from taking on graduates.
She noted many businesses have realised that taking on graduates offers excellent opportunities to train quality staff for less.
