REC: Do not lie about health issues

30/01/2009

Jobseekers could find that lying about health matters on their CV proves costly in the long run, one organisation has warned.

According to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), if candidates fail to disclose details about medical issues or their previous employment they could be seen to be in breach of contract or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Director of professional services at the REC Fiona Coombe said: "In the end, it is not sensible to lie because failing to disclose such details can come back to haunt you."

This news comes as the former general manager of Cheltenham Borough Council is being sued for almost £1 million after it was claimed she failed to state on her CV that she suffered from depression.

Meanwhile, Web Newswire has advised jobseekers that using online recruitment websites may be useful as they allow them to update their CVs quickly and easily.
