Recession 'not going to affect temporary recruitment'
The threat of a recession in the UK is not deterring senior recruitment professionals, many of whom are remaining optimistic about the future, it has been found.
New research from Encore Personnel Services revealed that when asked about temporary workers, 47 per cent of firms asked said they would be taking on the same amount of recruits as they did last year, Recruiter reports.
Furthermore, 86 per cent believe they will continue using temporary staff, despite the increase in minimum wage which will come into effect in April.
Greg Latham, managing director at Encore Personnel Services, said "It's encouraging to note the general positivity of these responses especially as we enter into unchartered territory as far as the economy is concerned."
However, he does believe that any further wage adjustments may start to impact upon employment.
The Trades Union Congress announced a minimum wage increase at the end of September, saying it was hoped it would help low-income families as the rate of inflation is so high.
