Social networking 'could impact job prospects'
Employers are likely to take into account a candidate's online presence when they are being considered for jobs in the future, it has been claimed.
Felix Wetzel, group marketing director at Jobsite, said social networking sites could have a greater impact on a person's job prospects in the future, as employers look to make use of this resource to better get a feel for their potential employees.
He noted that in many ways it depends on the employer as to whether a person's online persona will affect their chance of landing a job.
Mr Wetzel stated: "Some recognise that employees have a life outside of work and wouldn't be put off a candidate by pictures of nights out. However, other companies would very much frown upon any raucous photos."
According to a recent survey published by Career Builder, 27 per cent of employers claimed they presently use social networking sites to screen potential employees.
