Some recruiters 'remain optimistic about jobs'

Despite the current reports about the rising unemployment figures in the UK, some recruiters believe that there are still jobs available in certain industries.

Colin Birchall, chief executive of the Pertemps People Development Group, claims that there are around 500,000 vacancies currently in the marketplace, according to Recruiter.

These opportunities come from sectors such as warehousing, retail and lleisure

This claim has been supported by Shan Saba, director at Brightwork Specialist Recruitment, who states that Scottish jobseekers in particular have options available to them.

"Even though there is a bleak picture on the marketplace, we have noticed that certain employers are still recruiting and are taking advantage of the market and employing new candidates in Scotland," he added.

The government has recently announced new measures which are designed to help those who have been out of work for six months or more.
