Study shows 3pm is peak time for skiving

20/02/2009

Employees looking for a new job are likely to do so at 3pm on a Thursday, new research has discovered.

According to a study conducted by Experteer.co.uk, this is the busiest hour of the week for online job searches.

This suggests that many workers are using their afternoon tea break as a chance to make use of the free internet at work and have a sneaky look for jobs.

However, Torsten Muth, managing director of Experteer.co.uk, suggests that doing this may not be such a good idea.

He said: "Rushing through job ads at work will only increase people's stress level, especially when they are worried about being seen to be looking for another job."

Mr Muth suggested that the weekends are a better time to look for work, although the research revealed that this was the least popular time for people to conduct an online job search.

A new book, entitled How to Find a Job Using the Internet, was published earlier this month, with tips on using online recruitment methods.
