TDA: More jobseekers choosing maths and science
More jobseekers looking to enter the teaching profession are specialising in maths and science, one organisation has stated.
According to the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA), primary school education is the most popular sector to go in to for most people.
However, this means that the market is extremely competitive.
Instead, the TDA is encouraging more jobseekers to consider training to teach maths or science as there are fewer people with degrees in these subjects and therefore more employment opportunities.
A spokesperson for the body said: "Around each year, they need to recruit around 40,000 people into teacher training, just to make sure that there's a constant flow over time."
Statistics from the TDA reveal that one in ten workers is now considering a career in teaching, while applications for training courses are up by more than ten per cent.
