Tesco to create 200 jobs in Campbeltown
The local economy of Campbeltown in southern Scotland is set to receive a boost following the announcement by supermarket chain Tesco that it is to expand its store in the town.
Work at the site will hopefully create up to 200 new jobs, with First Milk planning a similar expansion project at the Campbeltown Creamery on the other side of town.
Peter Humphreys, First Milk chief executive, said: "The creamery and the dairy farming community on the peninsula are mutually dependent and this new investment secures the future of the dairy industry in this part of Scotland."
Elsewhere in the country, Scottish and Southern Energy recently announced that it could help create hundreds of new jobs in the Scottish Highlands through the construction of two new hydroelectric plants.
Plans have been submitted for the creation of these sustainable energy facilities, which will be situated between Fort Williams and Inverness.
