The Write Stuff: CVs should be two pages long

12/03/2009

Jobseekers should not go into excessive detail on their CVs as they should only be around two pages in length, an industry expert has advised.

According to The Write Stuff claims that too pages is the ideal length for an application as they are in danger of becoming too technical if they extend beyond this.

The only cases in which more detailed CVs would be appropriate would be for jobs such as engineering "where there might be a lot of stuff that you want to put in".

Speaking at the National Graduate Recruitment Exhibition in London, Peter Panayotou, senior consultant for The Write Stuff, said that jobseekers should "resist the temptation to put everything in" as "you are not writing an autobiography".

In other jobseeker news, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's Labour Market Outlook survey has revealed that 62 per cent of employers are planning to recruit over the next three months.
