Youth unemployment 'a growing problem'
The problem of youth unemployment is one that needs to be tackled in the months ahead, it has been claimed.
Becci Newton, a spokesperson for the Institute For Employment Studies, said many young people who are not in full-time education and do not have a career path laid out for them often wish to simply gain employment to try different profesions and see what is best for them.
She commented: "Offering pre-employment training packages is a way ... for young people to develop work skills - for example soft skills such as teamwork and communication - and to establish themselves in the rhythms of work."
The government recently announced it is to offer £1,000 to companies who take on a young person who is struggling to find work.
It is hoped that the scheme will get more employers to look favourably on young talent that is having a difficult time right now.
